Xpeng is gearing up to introduce its latest offering, the G7 electric crossover, to the Chinese market, boasting an impressive range of up to 702 kilometers. This extended range is made possible by a CALB-manufactured 80.8 kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery. The G7 represents Xpeng's foray into the longer SUV segment, following the successful launches of its P7+ and Mona M03 sedans. The official reveal of the Xpeng G7 occurred on January 9th, with subsequent disclosure of its core specifications by the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), and now, the battery and range details have been confirmed by Chinese regulatory bodies.

Xpeng officials have previously positioned the G7 as a potentially dominant contender in the $34,460 price bracket, emphasizing its capabilities and features. The vehicle's dimensions, measuring 4892 mm in length, 1925 mm in width, and 1655 mm in height, with a 2890 mm wheelbase, establish it as Xpeng's longest SUV. However, it's worth noting that its wheelbase is slightly shorter than that of the Xpeng G9. The G7 will be available with 18-inch or 20-inch wheel options, and its interior design aligns with the established aesthetic found in the Xpeng P7+ sedan.

The entry-level Xpeng G7 is equipped with a 68.5 kWh LFP battery pack, supplied by CALB, a prominent player in the Chinese EV battery market. This battery pack, weighing 560 kg, contributes significantly to the vehicle's curb weight, representing approximately 25% of the total 2,085 kg. This battery powers a 292 horsepower electric motor, enabling the SUV to achieve a range of 602 kilometers in the 2,085 kg variant and 577 kilometers in the 2,100 kg variant.

For consumers seeking extended range, Xpeng offers a long-range variant of the G7, featuring an 80.8 kWh LFP battery pack, also manufactured by CALB. This larger battery pack weighs 631 kg and powers a 218 kW electric motor. This configuration allows the Xpeng G7 to achieve a remarkable range of 702 kilometers in one variant and 677 km in another.

Xpeng is expected to continue its strategy of offering high-configuration vehicles at competitive prices with the G7. Industry analysts anticipate a starting price of around $27,300, positioning the G7 as a compelling option in its segment. The Xpeng G7 is slated to enter the market in the first half of 2025, further expanding Xpeng's presence in the electric vehicle landscape. The focus on LFP batteries also demonstrates a drive to deliver cost effective range to the market.
