The era of HEMI-powered vehicles at Dodge is reaching its twilight, marking the end of an iconic chapter with the Charger and Challenger already retired. The latest to join this farewell procession is the formidable HEMI-powered Durango, and Dodge is making sure it goes out with a bang by introducing the 2024 Durango SRT 392 AlcHEMI. This special edition is the inaugural release in a series of Last Call editions, a tribute to the concluding year of HEMI availability.
The AlcHEMI commands attention with a visually striking exterior, featuring honeycomb-textured stripes adorned with vivid yellow accents. Complementing this design are 20-inch Satin Black SRT wheels and a Brembo braking system with eye-catching yellow calipers. The distinctive two-tone theme continues with Midnight Metallic badging, black exhaust tips, and Satin Black "392" fender decals featuring contrasting yellow highlights.
Inside the cabin, the AlcHEMI edition boasts exclusive touches, including forged carbon fiber trim, a leather and suede steering wheel adorned with an illuminated SRT logo, and yellow and silver contrast stitching. The embroidered seatbacks featuring "392" logos further enhance the interior's unique character.
Limited to a production run of just 1,000 units, the Durango SRT 392 AlcHEMI will be available in Diamond Black, Destroyer Gray, Vapor Gray, and White Knuckle, with only 250 units allotted for each color. Dodge enthusiasts eager to secure one of these rare editions will need to navigate the ordering process through dealer allocations in late February using the Horsepower Locator on DodgeGarage.com. Allocation availability will be determined by dealer sales in January, with production commencing in April and deliveries slated for the following month.
The AlcHEMI package comes with a price tag of $3,595 on top of the Durango SRT 392 base price, bringing the total to a starting point of $80,185, including destination charges.
Under the hood, the Durango SRT 392 features a robust 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine, unleashing 475 horsepower and 637 Nm of torque. This powerhouse propels the SUV from 0 to 96 km/h in 4.4 seconds, completes the quarter-mile in 12.9 seconds, and exhibits an impressive towing capacity of up to 3,946 kg.
While the AlcHEMI edition is limited to 1,000 units, Dodge has confirmed the release of additional special editions throughout the year, with at least one version based on the Durango SRT Hellcat. Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis expressed the brand's commitment to celebrating the V8 HEMI engine that has defined Dodge's dominance in the performance SUV segment, stating that these special editions will serve to "honor the most powerful SUV ever."
