Volkswagen Talagon Costs Only $36K

FAW-Volkswagen has introduced the new Talagon SUV in 12 different trims in China, with prices ranging from $36,100 to $49,900. This latest release, being an annual facelift model, maintains the design and configurations of its predecessor while offering a price reduction of up to $6,000. The new Talagon is categorized as a medium-to-large SUV and is available in both 6-seater and 7-seater versions, catering to the family car market.

The Talagon measures 5152 mm in length, 2002 mm in width, and 1795 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2980 mm. The 6-seat version provides a standard trunk volume of 942 liters, while the 7-seat version offers 880 liters. For added comfort, the second-row seats come with a massage function. The exterior options include single-color and dual-color schemes with a black roof, and 20-inch or 21-inch wheels.

Inside the vehicle, the cockpit remains unchanged, featuring a 12-inch central control display, a 10.25-inch full LCD instrument panel, and a leather three-spoke flat-bottom multi-function steering wheel. Standard features include an 8-speaker audio system, a mix of leather and fabric seats, keyless entry, an electric tailgate, adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, and driver fatigue monitoring. Higher-end trims offer additional luxury and safety features such as a 12-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, steering wheel heating, 30-color ambient lighting, and advanced driving assistance systems like parking assist, rear traffic warning, and blind spot monitoring.

The new Talagon offers three engine options to cater to different performance needs: a 2.0T low-power engine delivering 183 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque, a 2.0T high-power engine producing 217 horsepower and 350 Nm of torque, and a 2.5T V6 engine generating 295 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. All engines are paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). An optional four-wheel-drive system is available for those seeking enhanced traction and control. The SUV's acceleration times from 0 to 100 km/h are 10.8 seconds for the low-power engine, 9.2 seconds for the high-power engine, and 8.2 seconds for the V6 engine.

The FAW-Volkswagen Talagon initially launched in June 2021. In the first four months of this year, sales figures were 2,884 units in January, 1,119 units in February, 1,638 units in March, and 1,442 units in April. With the new Talagon’s price reduction, FAW-Volkswagen aims to boost its sales figures further. The combination of competitive pricing and enhanced features is designed to attract a broader customer base and strengthen the Talagon's position in the market.
